The destination: A freshly brewed cup of locally grown coffee, on a traditional farm, listening to the chirping of endemic birds and the rustling of forest leaves… this is the daily morning routine in the Colombian Coffee Region, also known as the Coffee Triangle. Just like the nearby famous hotspot Medellín, the entire Western Colombian Andes are deeply rooted in tradition, while remaining open-minded, striving to transform society and build a bright future.
The people: Paisas ['paj sas] = a colloquial term for the people living in this region, are friendly, welcoming and well-educated, making you feel right at home.
Typical food: Bandeja paisa [ban 'de xa 'paj sa] = assorted meats and sausages, beans, egg, avocado, sweet plantain, rice, arepa
Fun fact: Medellín was the first city in the world to fully integrate cable cars into its urban metro system.
